ELECTIVES

Broadway Jazz – Classical based jazz incorporating performance styles and techniques from the Broadway/musical theater genre.

Contemporary – The physical discussion of emotions. Through dance and music, contemporary, combines the technical basis of ballet modern and jazz while taking artistic freedoms to express emotion.

Pre-Tap – Designed to help the dancer learn coordination, rhythm and timing.  Class is 45min.

Tap 1 – Beginning students learning the basic fundamentals of the art of tap and rhythm. Ages 6 and up.

Tap 2 – Intermediate students who have mastered the beginning stages of tap and rhythm.

Tap 3 – Intermediate students who are ready to take all the basic levels of tap and expound on the art itself to work through technique and tones.

Modern – A wonderful compliment for the ballet dancer.  Dancers are taught techniques based off of Graham, Limon, Horton and present technique ideas.  They are taught theories in choreography, improvisation and technique.

Adult Ballet Classes – Ballet in a simplified form to help with posture, strength, flexibility, grace and inner self worth. Meets for 1 hour a week

Private Lessons – Lessons done in either 30 min. increments or 1hr to help dancers on a personal level.  By Appt. with Mrs. Howell

Progressive – Progressing Ballet Technique is an innovative program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet. Student will need a body exercise ball and a yoga mat.

Variations –  designed for the Sr. level dancer who is en pointe.  Dancers learn solo and corp variations from classical ballets.  Exceling the dancer with knowledge of the ballet and choreography repertoire.
